Our story
Saint Claret College (Autonomous), Ziro (SCCZ)
Saint Claret College (Autonomous), Ziro (SCCZ) is located at a picturesque and serene 20–acre green-spread at Salaya, 3.5 kilometres from Old Ziro in the Lower Subansiri District of Arunachal Pradesh, the land of dawn-lit mountains. An undergraduate school (degree college) at Ziro had been a long-cherished dream of the people at Lower Subansiri, very specially, the people of Ziro Valley. Claretian Missionaries volunteered to respond to this genuine need of the people.
The foundation stone for SCCZ was laid in December 2002. The first academic year began on August 11, 2003. The College is permanently affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University, Itanagar, and recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC) under sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act. The SCCZ has become the first private college in Arunachal Pradesh to receive accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It is also the first private Higher Educational Institution in the State to be conferred Autonomous Status in November 2024 by Rajiv Gandhi University, Doimukh, Arunachal Pradesh. The SCCZ is a commitment of the Claretian Formation Association of North East India, the registered charitable society of Claretian Missionaries [S/R CLAONEI - 531/88 of 1988].
SCCZ currently offers Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com); Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Mass Communication, Anthropology, Economics, Education, English, History, Geography, Psychology and Political Science, Bachelor of Science in Anthropology, Geography, and Psychology, Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.), Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W.), and Post-Graduate Programme in Geography and Political Science. The College has a unique centre called People Education and Social Empowerment Centre (PESEC), through which it offers diverse training and extension programs for various segments of the population. The college offers several certificates and diploma courses for its own students as well as for the youth and the professionals from outside. With its dreams for a healthy mixture of traditional and innovative educational endeavours and extension programs, Saint Claret College seeks to realise the educational dreams of the tribal people.
